Being a passionate social work educator, researcher and practitioner gives me a sense of purpose in life.

Motivational Interviewing.
Motivational Interviewing (MI) originated from the treatment for alcohol use problems. MI becomes an evidence-based psychologistic counseling approach, resulting in forty years of evolution and scientific evidence. MI has grown roots from a client-centered philosophical foundation by adopting rational and technical tenets. MI provides a goal-oriented strategy to help people change.
Addiction.
Understanding addiction is my expertise. I find this topic intriguing. When professionals talk about addictive behaviors, I would be curious about how they came up with their analysis. How do they define each addiction? Do we really know what addiction is? Is it drug use? Is it drinking? Is it overuse of social media and gaming?
These are the questions I will look into:
(1) What is an addictive behavior and how do we define it?
(2) What factors affect the causes and the continuation of their addictive behaviors?
(3) How do we deal with addictive behaviors?
I hope this section serves as a platform for everyone to study and discuss addictive behaviors and to share relevant literature.
Mental Health.
Mental health is an alarming global issue, which shares a vital part of the well-being of every individual. It covers all age groups across different stages of human development, especially in a stressful living environment like Hong Kong.
(1) Young people struggle with academic performance, interpersonal relationships, and personal growth.
(2) Adults compete for their careers and livelihoods. They need to strike a balance between family, jobs, and pursuing higher education.
(3) Elderly worry about their health, living in retirement and deteriorating their self-concepts and feelings of loneliness. Optimization of living becomes a great deal of managing better physical and mental health. Dr. Tse will share his thoughts, ideas, and international literature on various mental health issues in this section. This section will be helpful to you, your family, and society.
